Ethan Sperla

BA Economics and MS Management Science and Engineering, 2024

Ethan plans to study how great-power competition shapes technology, trade, and economic security—especially the strategic dynamics of the U.S.–China relationship. Building on his work at the U.S. Department of Commerce advancing national priorities, including the AI Action Plan and the American AI Exports Program, he wants to deepen his understanding of how innovation and emerging technologies translate into enduring advantage. After the program, Ethan intends to bring that perspective to revitalizing economically dislocated communities like his hometown of Flint, Michigan. He believes Schwarzman College will sharpen the leadership and analytical tools needed to strengthen U.S. competitiveness while expanding opportunity at home.
