About the German Chancellor Fellowship

In 1990, the German Chancellor Fellowships program (Bundeskanzler) was created under an agreement between the German and U.S. governments in the hope that future important U.S. leadership positions would be filled with people who have a first-hand knowledge of Germany. Sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, German Chancellor Fellowships generally provide for 12 months of study/research to prospective U.S. leaders in the academic world of business or politics at a German university and/or research institution to strengthen trans-Atlantic ties.

Amount Awarded

Monthly fellowship of € 2,150, €2,450 or €2,750. Mentorship, travel, German language course, study tour, alumni sponsorship.
