About the NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program

A number of formal collaborative agreements have been established between National Institutes of Health (NIH) and leading PhD programs, including Oxford and Cambridge. The National Institutes of Health-Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program is an accelerated, individualized doctoral training program for outstanding science students committed to biomedical research. It enables students to undertake a collaborative project in any area of biomedical investigation involving two mentors--one at the NIH intramural campus in Bethesda, Maryland and one at either Oxford or Cambridge University. The projects culminate in the award of a D.Phil or Ph.D. in science from either Oxford or Cambridge.

PhD fees, research costs, health insurance, travel, stipend.

Application Process

The NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program does not have a campus process. The national deadline is always at the beginning of December. The application process is lengthy and requires many months of preparation.
