Lin Meng Walsh

 Lin Meng Walsh is a PhD Candidate in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures. Her research interests encompass three domains: Manchukuo literature and cinema, women’s cultural production, and the comparative study of the fragmented essay (Ch: suibi; J: zuihitsu). During her stay in Tokyo, she will explore archival materials on the careers of Ushijima Haruko and Sakane Tazuko, as well as on essayistic writings commissioned by institutions including the South Manchuria Railway Company and the Manchuria Daily News.
