Marshall Scholarship
1-3 years at any British University leading to a degree.
Eligibility
- U.S. citizen.
- Apply within two years of finishing first undergraduate four-year degree.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S. by the time the scholarship commences.
- A grade point average of not less than 3.7 (or A-) for entire undergraduate career.
- Not have studied for, or hold a degree or degree-equivalent qualification from a British University or GCSE or A Levels taken at school in the UK.
About the Marshall Scholarship
Founded by Act of Parliament in 1953, the Marshall Scholarships commemorate the “human ideals” of the European Recovery Programme (Marshall Plan). Recipients are awarded one year, two years and possibly three years of graduate study in almost any British university and in any discipline leading to a British university degree.
The total award value will vary according to circumstances (selected university, residence, etc.), but will include tuition fees, personal allowance, grant for books, and travel expenses. Approximately forty Marshall scholarships are awarded each year. Candidates choose the region through which they apply.

- Reach out to OGS at rhodesmarshall-ogs@stanford.edu
- Fill out the UK Pre-Advising Form and submit CV to OGS.
- Meet with an assigned OGS scholarship advisor.
- Attend Spring Quarter Application Sessions.
- Submit your campus application through SOLO by July 1st.
- Include Stanford Rhodes and Marshall Campus Coversheet 2025 with application materials.
Campus Application Deadline
The Marshall Scholarship has a campus process and requires a Stanford endorsement. Therefore, you need to be aware of two deadlines: a campus deadline and a national deadline. The campus deadline is typically in early July and the national deadline typically in mid September. The application process is lengthy and requires many months of preparation.
