Rhodes Scholarship
2-3 years at University of Oxford leading to a degree.
Eligibility
- Worldwide citizenship
- U.S.* Citizen
- U.S. Permanent Resident for five years prior to applying.
- By October 1st of the year of application, must have passed the 18th and not passed the 24th birthday for U.S. applicants.
- Bachelor's degree completed by June/July in the year in which applying for the scholarship.
- Global minimum GPA of 3.7

Rhodes Global Scholarships - (2027 cycle on hiatus)
Two Global Scholarships are available to candidates from any country that is not an existing Rhodes jurisdiction.

About the Rhodes Scholarship
Established in 1903, the Rhodes Scholarship awards recipients with two years of postgraduate study at the University of Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. All educational costs are paid on the Scholar's behalf by the Rhodes Trust. Thirty-two Scholarships are offered in the U.S. every year. American candidates choose the Rhodes districts through which they apply. There are Rhodes Scholarships available to students from around the world. See the Rhodes website for details.

Steps for Students Interested in the Rhodes Scholarship

- Read Rhodes and Marshall Should I Apply Handout Guide, and also and the official website to determine if the Rhodes Scholarship is right for you
- Reach out to OGS at rhodesmarshall-ogs@stanford.edu
- Fill out the UK Pre-Advising Form and submit CV to OGS
- Meet with an assigned OGS scholarship advisor
- Attend Spring Quarter Application Sessions
- Submit your campus application through SOLO by July 1st
- Include Stanford Rhodes and Marshall Campus Coversheet with application materials.
Timeline Details
The Rhodes Scholarship has a campus process and requires a Stanford endorsement for U.S. and Canadian applicants. Therefore, you need to be aware of two deadlines: 1) a campus deadline and 2) a national deadline.
Rhodes applicants for other jurisdictions besides the U.S. and Canada need to follow the country application details. The application process is lengthy and requires many months of preparation.
Campus Application Deadline
- The campus deadline for U.S. and Canadian applicants is typically in early July and the national deadline typically in early October.
- The campus deadline for Rhodes Global Scholarship applicants is in late June. (2027 cycle is on hiatus.)
National Application Deadline
January 7, 2026.
